Dr. C. Chez-Roy Birchwood
I completed a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the Fielding Graduate University, Santa Barbara, California. My primary area of research pertains to psychological resilience, the ability to thrive despite severe life difficulties. I have over 20 years of experience in mental health in the community, including the role of clinical specialist. I held clinical positions at Correctional Services Canada, Canadian Mental Health Association, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, Forensic Psychological Services, Health Sciences Centre, and St. Boniface General Hospital.
I carefully tailor my approach to serve the needs of my clients. My interventions usually involve the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, augmented by Client-Centred approaches. In all interventions, I emphasize the strengths that each individual brings to resolving life-problems. I provide assessments and treatment for various conditions, including personality disorders, hoarding disorder, depression, social anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, chronic pain, adjustment to trauma and loss, and co-occurring addiction disorders. I provide services to both adolescents and adults.
